Carbon Partnership - Projects
Our project work focuses on helping owners of indigenous forest make a living from creating and selling carbon (or other ecosystem service) assets instead of (or along side) timber assets.
At the core of this effort is the recognition that most owners of indigneous forest are happy for their forests to be protected, but they still need to make a living from their natural resource.
We also recognise that buyers of these assets demand low risk, quality assured, measurable outcomes that are additional to business-as-usual. Accordingly, we develop projects capable of satisfying the needs of buyers so that we can mobilise forest conservation finance for sellers.
To this end we:
- Collaborate with forest owners to develop project proposals
- Work with funders to gain capacity building and project development finance
- Design and develop projects to the point at which carbon or other ecosystem service assets are ready for sale
- We also help sellers manage and monitor their projects
- We also work with governments to design and develop national programmes to support and enable forest conservation activities to become mainstreamed.
